Third generation. First principles.

My grandmother practiced this medicine in Guangzhou. My mother carried it to Toronto and practiced it quietly out of our living room while I did homework at the kitchen table, listening to the kettle and the low voices of her patients.

I resisted it for years. I studied biochemistry, worked in a research lab, and only came back to the medicine when my own health collapsed and nothing in my Western toolkit could explain why. What brought me back was not nostalgia. It was watching the pattern-logic of this medicine succeed where my lab results had nothing to say.

Ember is the room I wished existed when I was the exhausted one.

  • Registered Acupuncturist, College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists of Ontario
  • Diploma of Traditional Chinese Medicine, four-year program with clinical internship in Nanjing
  • BSc Biochemistry, University of Toronto
  • Apprenticeship in classical herbal formulation under Dr. Wei-Lin Chen
  • Fifteen years of clinical practice across two continents
